CELPIP-General is a computer-based English test for Canadian permanent residence, with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking in one sitting of about three hours. CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking only) is used for citizenship. Each section gets a CELPIP level that matches a CLB level.
Federal Skilled Worker applicants need at least CLB 7 in every skill, and Canadian Experience Class needs CLB 7 or CLB 5 depending on the job's TEER level. CLB 9 or higher earns noticeably more CRS points. Check IRCC for your program's current minimum, or use our free CELPIP score calculator.
