The MPNP points grid
Language (max 125)
Your first official language scores each of the four skills on its own CLB (up to 25 each). A second official language at CLB 5 or more adds 25.

|---|---|
| CLB 8 or more | 25 |
| CLB 7 | 22 |
| CLB 6 | 20 |
| CLB 5 | 17 |
| CLB 4 | 12 |
| CLB 3 or lower | 0 |
Age (max 75)
| Age | Points |

Work experience (max 175)

Adaptability (max 500)
Every candidate needs at least one connection to Manitoba, and only the highest counts. Settling outside Winnipeg adds 50 to any connection except Manitoba Demand.
| Connection | Points |
|---|---|
| Manitoba Demand: 6+ months working in Manitoba with a long-term offer from that employer | 500 |
| Manitoba Demand: invitation to apply under a Strategic Initiative | 500 |
| Close relative in Manitoba | 200 |
| 6+ months of past authorized work in Manitoba | 100 |
| Post-secondary program of 2+ years completed in Manitoba | 100 |
| One-year post-secondary program completed in Manitoba | 50 |
| Close friend or distant relative in Manitoba | 50 |
Risk factors (up to −200)
Work experience in another province takes off 100, and so do studies in another province, for you or your spouse. A close relative in another province or an earlier application to another province takes off nothing.

Where CELPIP fits
Language is up to 125 points, and because each skill counts separately, raising any skill below CLB 8 adds points: CLB 7 in every skill gives 88, CLB 8 gives 100. The free diagnostic predicts your CLB for each CELPIP section. If you're also in Express Entry, check your CRS language points with the CELPIP score calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How is the MPNP EOI score calculated?
Manitoba ranks Skilled Worker expressions of interest out of 1000: language up to 125, age up to 75, work experience up to 175, education up to 125 and adaptability (your connection to Manitoba) up to 500. Up to 200 points can be taken off for work or study in another province.
How many MPNP points does CELPIP give?
Each skill scores on its own: CLB 8 or more gives 25, CLB 7 gives 22, CLB 6 gives 20, CLB 5 gives 17 and CLB 4 gives 12, so four CLB 8s give the full 100. A French test at CLB 5 or more adds 25. Unlike most provinces, Manitoba doesn't score only your lowest skill, so every skill you raise to CLB 8 counts.
What is a good MPNP score?
Most draws are targeted, so there is no single pass mark. In the draws up to October 15, 2026 that published a cutoff, the lowest invited score ranged from 632 to 825. Many rounds invite everyone in a listed occupation or strategic initiative regardless of score.
Why is the Manitoba connection worth so much?
Adaptability is half the grid. Working in Manitoba for six months or more with a long-term offer from the same employer, or an invitation under a Strategic Initiative, gives the full 500 (Manitoba Demand). Otherwise your best connection counts: a close relative 200, past work or a two-year program in Manitoba 100, a one-year program or a friend 50, plus 50 for settling outside Winnipeg.
What CLB do I need for MPNP?
Candidates working in Manitoba in a TEER 0–3 job don't need a test; Skilled Worker in Manitoba asks for language good enough for the job. TEER 4 and 5 jobs need CLB 4. International Education Stream pathways need CLB 7. CELPIP General, IELTS General Training, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada are accepted, up to two years old.
Does a relative in another province lower my MPNP score?
No. A close relative in another province or a past immigration application to another province takes off 0 points, though you must still declare them. Work experience or studies in another province each take off 100.
