- Task 4: Making PredictionsUsing the same picture as Task 3, predict what will probably happen next.
- Task 5: Comparing and PersuadingChoose between two options, then persuade a family member that your choice is better than theirs.
- Task 6: Dealing with a Difficult SituationChoose one of two people to speak to in an awkward situation and explain your decision to them.

- Task 8: Describing an Unusual SituationDescribe a strange object or scene in a picture to someone who cannot see it, usually on the phone.
For CLB 4, answer every part of the task in simple, clear sentences and keep talking until the time is nearly up. A short, complete answer scores better than a long one cut off.

FAQ
What is the CELPIP LS test?
CELPIP-General LS tests only Listening and Speaking, in about 1 hour 10 minutes, and is intended for Canadian citizenship. Its Listening and Speaking sections are the same as in the full CELPIP-General test, so any CELPIP Listening and Speaking practice prepares you for it.
What CELPIP score do I need for Canadian citizenship?
Citizenship applicants aged 18 to 54 generally need CLB 4 or higher in Listening and in Speaking. IRCC also accepts some other proof of language ability, so check the IRCC website before you book.
How many Listening answers do I need for CLB 4?
Roughly 12 or more correct out of 38. CELPIP converts raw scores with a table for each test form, so treat this as an estimate and aim higher on practice tests to leave a margin.
Is there a free CELPIP LS practice test?
Yes. The 25 full Listening practice tests on CELPass are free without an account, with audio, transcripts, the answer key and an estimated CLB. For Speaking, a free account includes CELPass Mock 1, a full mock with all 8 Speaking tasks scored by AI that you can take as often as you like, plus three more AI-scored Speaking answers.
Can I use CELPIP-General LS for permanent residence?
No. Express Entry and most other permanent residence programs need a level in all four skills, so they need the full CELPIP-General test. A valid CELPIP-General result also works for citizenship.
