Can I Reschedule My CELPIP Test? Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds
By Natania · Booking and test day · Published · 3 min read
Plans change: a work trip, an illness, or a mock test that shows you are not ready yet. CELPIP lets you move your test to another date, but only up to a deadline and for a fee, and the rules for cancelling are stricter still. This post explains how rescheduling works and how to avoid losing your fee. Policies are set by Paragon Testing Enterprises and differ slightly between pages and locations, so check the policy in your CELPIP account before you act. Can I reschedule my CELPIP exam?
Yes. CELPIP calls it a transfer: you move your registration to another date or centre through your CELPIP account, for a fee, as long as you ask before the transfer deadline, which is about a week before your test.
At the time of writing, the official pages give the deadline as at least seven calendar days before the test, and some pages and countries use nine days. Use the deadline shown in your account for your booking.
How much does it cost to reschedule CELPIP?
In Canada, the transfer fee listed on the official CELPIP pages at the time of writing is CAD $50 plus tax. Fees outside Canada can differ, so check the amount in your account before you confirm.
How do I reschedule my CELPIP test?
- Log in to the CELPIP account you used to book.
- Open your upcoming test and choose the option to transfer it.
- Pick a new date or centre with free seats.
- Pay the transfer fee and check the new confirmation email.
- Update your calendar and study plan for the new date.
If the option is not shown, you may be past the deadline. Contact CELPIP customer support through the official website as soon as you can.
What if I cancel my CELPIP test instead?
If you cancel early enough, you get half the fee back; after the deadline you get nothing. On the official pages we checked, a cancellation at least seven calendar days before the test refunds 50% of the fee.
| Situation | Option | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| More than a week before the test | Transfer to another date | The transfer fee |
| More than a week before the test | Cancel | Half the test fee |
| Inside the deadline | Neither, as a rule | The full test fee if you do not sit the test |
| Paragon cancels the session | Refund or another session | Nothing |
Transferring is usually cheaper than cancelling and booking again, as long as you are sure you will take the test on the new date.
Can I reschedule CELPIP less than a week before the test?
Generally not. Inside the deadline you cannot transfer or get a refund, and missing the test means losing the fee. If you are ill or have an emergency, contact CELPIP straight away and ask what applies to your case.
If you are only worried about your score, it is usually better to sit the test anyway: the result shows exactly where you stand, and a retake costs the same as a missed test.
Can I transfer my CELPIP booking to someone else?
No. A CELPIP registration belongs to the person who booked it and cannot be given to another test taker.
How do I know whether to move my test date?
Take a timed mock test two to three weeks before the test. If every skill is within one level of your target, keep the date; if one skill is two or more levels short, moving the date before the deadline usually costs less than a failed attempt.
