CELPIP Express Rating: Can You Still Get Faster Results?

By Natania · Booking and test day · Published · 4 min read

For years CELPIP offered Express Rating: for an extra fee, your scores were released in your CELPIP account three business days after the test, and hardcopy score reports went out by Canada Post Express Post. Many websites still describe it that way. The official results page has since changed: standard results now arrive in about the same time, hardcopy reports have been discontinued and Express Rating is no longer listed. This post explains what changed and how to plan around a deadline today. Policies change, so check the official CELPIP website and your CELPIP account before you book.

What was CELPIP Express Rating?

A paid option that released your scores in your CELPIP account three business days after your test date, instead of the standard wait. It was offered for both the CELPIP-General Test and the CELPIP-General LS Test, and it had to be added before the test.

  • Scores: released in your online CELPIP account three business days after the test date.
  • Tests: CELPIP-General (permanent residence and most other uses) and CELPIP-General LS (citizenship).
  • Paper reports: hardcopies of the CELPIP Official Score Report were sent by Canada Post Express Post.
  • Scoring: exactly the same as a standard result. Express Rating changed only how quickly the score was released, never the score itself.

Is CELPIP Express Rating still available?

Not as far as the official results page shows. The version published since 2025 lists standard results in 3–4 business days and score re-evaluation as the only extra option, with no Express Rating and no paid faster scoring.

Some third-party sites, and older official pages, still mention Express Rating and its fee. Treat those as out of date unless your CELPIP account offers it when you book. If it is not offered there, plan on the standard timing.

How long do standard CELPIP results take now?

About 3–4 business days after your test date, according to the official results page. That is close to what Express Rating used to offer, which is probably why a paid faster option is no longer needed.

You get an email when your scores are posted. Business days exclude weekends and statutory holidays, so a test on a Thursday or before a long weekend takes longer in calendar days.

Can I still get a paper copy of my CELPIP score report?

No. The official results page says hardcopy score reports have been discontinued. Your CELPIP Official Score Report is a PDF you download from your CELPIP account once your scores are posted.

  • For IRCC, download the PDF from your CELPIP account and upload it with your application, following your program's document checklist.
  • Your scores stay viewable in your CELPIP account for two years from the test date.
  • If an employer, school or regulator asks for a paper report, ask how they accept a CELPIP result now; most accept the official PDF.

My deadline is close: how do I get CELPIP results in time?

Without a paid faster option, the only lever is your test date. Count 3–4 business days from it, add a margin for holidays, and book early enough to leave room for a retake if one skill falls short.

  1. Find your real deadline: for example, the date you must enter results in an Express Entry profile or submit an application.
  2. Count back at least a full working week for results, more around statutory holidays.
  3. Prefer a test early in the week, so the business days fall before the weekend.
  4. If you might need a second attempt, count back far enough for two tests plus results; CELPIP limits how close together you can book sessions.
  5. Book only when timed practice shows every skill at your target: a retake costs more time than any faster-results option ever saved.

Can a CELPIP re-evaluation be done faster?

There is no express option for re-evaluation either. You can apply within six months of the test date, and the official page says results come back in about one to two weeks.

  • You choose which skills to have re-evaluated and pay a fee per skill.
  • If the level changes for a skill, the fee for that skill is refunded.
  • Each skill can be re-evaluated only once, and requests cannot be cancelled.
  • Listening and Reading are scored by computer, so a re-evaluation is unlikely to change them; Writing and Speaking are where it can help.
