Why can't the man test drive his car?

  2. Question 2, read aloud

What feature does the man specifically want?

  3. Question 3, read aloud
Question 3: listen, then show the question text

What does the woman offer to do next?

Transcript (read it after you answer)

MAN: Hi there, I've got a test drive booked for eleven — the silver sedan, the one with the sunroof package. Name's Marcus Lee.

WOMAN: Let me check... Marcus, yes, I see the booking, but I'm really sorry — that particular car went in for its scheduled service this morning and hasn't come back yet.

MAN: Oh, that's frustrating. I specifically asked for that trim because of the sunroof.

WOMAN: I completely understand, and I apologize for the mix-up — it should've been flagged before your appointment. Let me see what I can sort out right now.

MAN: I appreciate that. I took time off work just to come in today.

WOMAN: Of course, that's entirely fair. Give me just a moment to check what's currently on the lot that might work as a substitute, since I don't want you to have made the trip for nothing.

MAN: Sure, I'm not in a huge rush, just curious what my options actually are.

WOMAN: Great, bear with me a second — I'll pull up the inventory now and see what's comparable.

Section 2 of 3

  1. Question 4, read aloud
Question 4: listen, then show the question text

Why does the man reject the first option?

  2. Question 5, read aloud
Question 5: listen, then show the question text

Which car does the man choose to drive?

Transcript (read it after you answer)

WOMAN: Okay, so we've got two options sitting on the lot right now. There's the same model, one trim down, but no sunroof — and there's a different colour in the exact trim you wanted, just without the upgraded sound system.

MAN: Hm. The sunroof was actually the main draw for me.

WOMAN: In that case, the one-trim-down car probably isn't the right fit. What about the colour swap — it's black instead of silver, but the sunroof's there, aside from the sound system, everything matches what you booked.

MAN: Black's fine with me, honestly. I care more about the features than the colour.

WOMAN: Perfect, that narrows it down nicely. There's also a loaner arriving from another branch this afternoon, same spec as your original, if you'd rather wait for that instead.

MAN: How long of a wait are we talking about?

WOMAN: Possibly two or three hours, and there's no real guarantee it arrives before we close tonight.

MAN: I'd rather not gamble on that. Let's just go with the black one you've already got here.

WOMAN: Good call — I'll grab the keys and pull it around front for you.

Section 3 of 3

  1. Question 6, read aloud
Question 6: listen, then show the question text

When can the man drive the original car?

  2. Question 7, read aloud
Question 7: listen, then show the question text

What extra item does the man need?

  3. Question 8, read aloud
Question 8: listen, then show the question text

Why does he want the silver car?

Transcript (read it after you answer)

WOMAN: So, how was the black one?

MAN: Really good, actually — drove smoothly, and the sunroof sold me even more on it. Still, I'd like to see the silver one too before deciding, since that's what caught my eye online.

WOMAN: Completely fair. I just checked, and the service team says your original car will be back on the lot by tomorrow morning.

MAN: Any chance I could come by and drive it then?

WOMAN: Absolutely, I can pencil you in for nine o'clock — I'll personally make sure it's pulled around and ready before you arrive, so there's no repeat of today.

MAN: I'd appreciate that. Should I bring anything, or is my license enough?

WOMAN: Just bring your wallet with your license and insurance in it, same as today — you won't need to bring a deposit or fill out any extra paperwork, that's already on file from this morning.

MAN: Sounds great, thanks for sorting all this out despite the mix-up.

WOMAN: My pleasure, Marcus — nine o'clock tomorrow, silver sedan, sunroof and all. See you then.
