The question

A friend wants to adopt a pet but isn’t sure what kind of animal would be best for their busy lifestyle. They ask you for advice.

Excellent answer (transcript): around CLB 11–12

If your schedule is quite busy, it’s wise to choose a pet that doesn’t require constant attention. Animals like fish, hamsters, or even cats can be more suitable, as they are more independent and don’t need to be walked every day. Dogs are wonderful companions, but they require a lot of time and exercise. Consider your living space and how often you’re home, and choose a pet whose needs align with your routine. Research different animals and perhaps even volunteer at a shelter to see what pet fits you best.
