News Anchor: Starting next month, the City of Redhill will implement updated recycling guidelines to improve waste management and reduce contamination in recycling bins. Residents will now be required to separate paper products from plastics, and glass containers will no longer be accepted at curbside pickup. Instead, they must be dropped off at one of five designated depots. City spokesperson Jenna Lee explained that recent audits showed nearly 40% of recycling collected was contaminated, leading to higher processing costs and rejected shipments. The city will distribute updated guides by mail and launch an online campaign to help residents adjust to the new system. Fines for improper sorting will be introduced starting in June, with warnings issued in the first month.
