Dear Tanya,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Raj Kumar, and I recently moved to Edmonton from India about two months ago. I got your contact information from the community center bulletin board where I saw a flyer about the Millwoods Drop-in Hockey League that you organize.

Hockey has always fascinated me, though I've never had the opportunity to play it back home. Now that I'm in Canada, I'm eager to learn this national sport and hopefully make some new friends along the way. I've purchased some basic equipment (skates, helmet, and gloves) from a second-hand sports store on 82nd Avenue for about $95, which seemed like a good deal for a beginner like me.

I was wondering if your league welcomes complete beginners, especially newcomers to Canada who might not be familiar with all the rules. The flyer mentioned that games are held every Thursday evening at 7:30 PM at the Millwoods Recreation Centre, but I wasn't sure if I needed to register in advance or if I could just show up. Also, is there an additional fee I should be prepared to pay? The flyer mentioned $12 per session, but I wasn't sure if that covered everything.

I must admit I'm a bit nervous about joining. Last weekend, I practiced skating at the West Edmonton Mall ice rink, and while I managed to stay upright most of the time, I did take a rather embarrassing tumble in front of a group of teenagers! They were kind enough to help me up, though, which was touching and made me feel welcome.

Would it be possible to come and watch a session before joining in? I'd like to get a feel for the pace and skill level. Also, do you know if there are any basic training sessions for newcomers that I could attend first?

Thank you for taking the time to read my email. I'm really looking forward to experiencing this important part of Canadian culture firsthand.

Warm regards,Raj Kumar

Dear Raj, Thank you for your email! We're always excited to welcome newcomers to our hockey league. You'll be pleased to know that our league - in fact, about a third of our players are beginners! The $12 fee covers rink time and basic equipment loans, though it's great that you've already . Regarding registration, you don't need to sign up in advance - just about 15 minutes early to complete a simple form. You're absolutely welcome to come watch first! Actually, we have a special this Saturday morning at 10 AM specifically for newcomers where we cover basic skills and rules. Many players find this helpful before joining the regular Thursday sessions. Don't worry about your skating skills - we all when learning! Looking forward to meeting you soon. Best regards, Tanya
