CELPIP Speaking Task 2 Sample Answer: A Time When You Made a New Hobby

A few years ago, I picked up gardening as a new hobby, and it’s become one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I started it because I wanted to grow my own vegetables and create a peaceful space in my backyard. At first, I struggled with things like overwatering and pests, but I researched, learned from my mistakes, and eventually grew a thriving garden with tomatoes, herbs, and even sunflowers. This hobby has taught me patience and given me a deeper connection to nature. It’s also become a way for me to unwind after a busy day, and I love sharing my homegrown produce with friends and family.

Last year, I decided to start a new hobby—photography. I had always loved taking pictures with my phone, so I bought a small camera to learn more. I started going on walks to take photos of nature and buildings. It was so much fun, and I even joined a photography club to meet other people who share the same interest. This hobby has made me more creative and helped me appreciate the beauty around me.

I start painting last year. I buy some color and paper. I like it because it make me relax. I paint flower and tree. It feel good to do something new.
