Official CELPIP Practice Test Bundles: Should You Buy Them?

By Natania · Study tips · Published · Updated · 5 min read

The official CELPIP store sells online practice test sets one at a time and in bundles of several sets at a discount. They are the closest thing to the real test you can buy, but a bundle is not the right purchase for everyone. Here is what you get, who it suits and how to decide. A note on bias: CELPass is an independent practice platform and not affiliated with CELPIP or Paragon Testing Enterprises. We describe the official products only from what celpip.ca publishes, checked 16 October 2026.

Should I buy an official CELPIP practice test bundle?

Buy one if you have already used the two free official tests and want more practice in the exact official screens, timing and question style, especially for full checks in the last few weeks. Skip a large bundle if you mainly need feedback on your own Speaking and Writing, because the official tests do not score those, or if your test is so close that you could not use all the tests well.

  • Good buy: you are within about a month of your target in every skill and want reliable final checks.
  • Good buy: Listening or Reading is your weakest skill, since the official tests mark those instantly.
  • Think twice: Speaking or Writing is what holds you back and you have no one to rate your answers.
  • Think twice: you are several CLB levels below your target. Build your English first and save the official tests for when your scores are close.

What is in an official CELPIP practice test bundle?

A bundle is several of the official online practice test sets sold together for less than buying each set alone. Each set has two complete CELPIP-General tests, and the store lists 13 sets in all. Separate sets and bundles are also sold for CELPIP-General LS, which has only Listening and Speaking.

How many official practice tests do I actually need?

Most test takers need three or four complete official tests, not twenty. A full test takes about three hours and the review takes as long again, so each one costs most of a day. The two free tests plus one or two paid sets usually cover a baseline, a midway check and a final check a week before the test.

  • Two to four weeks of preparation: the two free tests and one paid set.
  • One to three months: the free tests and two or three sets, or a small bundle.
  • A large bundle makes sense if you are preparing for months, retaking after a missed target, or sharing a study plan with a teacher who sets tests as homework.

Single sections are where most of your improvement happens. Use whole official tests as checkpoints and do the daily practice with task-by-task material.

What do the official tests leave out?

The official sets do not score your Writing or Speaking. You get performance standards and sample responses to compare with, so you have to judge your own answer, which is hard to do accurately at CLB 7 to 9, where the differences are in vocabulary range, coherence and how fully you answer the task.

  • No rating of your own email, survey response or recorded Speaking answers.
  • No explanation of why each wrong Listening or Reading option is wrong.
  • No practice plan built from your mistakes: you choose what to study next.
  • A fixed number of tests. Taking the same test twice inflates your score because you remember it.

Fill these gaps with a teacher, a study partner or a scoring service that rates your answers on the four CELPIP dimensions.

Is a bundle better value than buying single sets?

Per test, yes: bundles are sold at a discount on the single-set price. But a test you never take is not a saving. Buy one set first, take it under real conditions, and buy more only when you know how many more checkpoints your plan needs. Compare the current single-set and bundle prices on the official store, and check how long online access lasts so the tests do not expire before your test date.

Where should I buy official CELPIP practice tests?

From the official CELPIP online store, or from a school or agent that is part of the CELPIP network. Avoid anyone selling "real recent test questions" or shared logins: such material cannot be checked, and Paragon's terms make test takers responsible for preparing with live test items.

How do I get the most out of a bundle?

Spread the tests across your preparation instead of using them all in the first week, and take each one exactly like the real test: real timers, no pauses, sections in test order and each recording played once.

  1. Take a free official test first as your baseline.
  2. Practise single parts and tasks for a week or two, focusing on the weakest skill.
  3. Take a paid test as a midway check and compare it skill by skill with your baseline.
  4. Keep one unseen official test for the last week before your test day.
  5. Review every test for at least as long as you took to do it.

What can I use alongside the official tests?

Use free material for daily practice and the official tests for checkpoints. CELPass has free full Listening and Reading practice tests without an account, and a free account adds a diagnostic, one full mock test and five AI-scored Speaking or Writing answers, then one a week. CELPass questions are written in the official format but are not official items, and its scores are practice estimates, not CELPIP results.

Frequently asked questions

Are the official CELPIP practice tests the same as the real test?

They are made by the organisation that makes CELPIP and use the real format and question style, but they are practice tests, not past test forms. Your practice result is a guide, not a guaranteed score.

Do the official CELPIP practice tests score Writing and Speaking?

No. Listening and Reading are marked; for Writing and Speaking you compare your answers with performance standards and sample responses.

Can I share an official practice test bundle with a friend?

Check the official store's terms before you do. Each test is also only useful once per person, because a second attempt measures memory rather than English.
