Official CELPIP Practice Tests vs CELPass Practice Tests

The official CELPIP practice tests come from the people who make the test, so every learner should take them. CELPass is a separate, independent practice platform. A note on bias: CELPass is our own product. We describe the official products only from what celpip.ca publishes, checked 16 October 2026.
What official CELPIP practice tests are there?
Two complete free sample tests, unlocked with a short form on celpip.ca, and 13 paid online sets in the official store, each with two complete tests, 26 in all. Free tests are offered for both CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS.
- Free sample tests: answer keys showing the correct answer and your choice, and Listening transcripts.
- Paid sets: instant results for Listening and Reading; for Writing and Speaking, performance standards and, in one test of each set, sample responses at several levels.
- Other official products: the CELPIP Accelerate and Practice and Analysis online courses, study-guide ebooks, a Common CELPIP Errors ebook, free webinars and score descriptors with rated sample responses.
How do official practice tests and CELPass differ?
The official tests show the real test screens and question style, and mark Listening and Reading. They do not score your own Speaking or Writing: you compare your answer with the official standards and samples. CELPass scores your own Speaking and Writing on the four CELPIP dimensions and turns your mistakes into practice.

Are CELPass practice tests the same as the official ones?
No. CELPass questions are written to match the official CELPIP practice tests in format, topics and difficulty, but they are not official items, and CELPass scores are practice estimates, not official CELPIP results.
Should I buy the official practice tests?
Take the two free official tests first. Buy official sets if you want more tests in the exact official screens and style, especially close to test day. If your weakest skill is Speaking or Writing, you also need feedback on your own answers, which the official tests do not give.
How should I use both?
Use an official test at the start to learn the real format, practise and get your Speaking and Writing scored on CELPass in between, and save an official test for the last week or two as a final check.
