MAN: Hi there! I was wondering if I could make an appointment to get my dog groomed.

WOMAN: Of course! I'd be happy to help. What kind of dog do you have?

MAN: He's a Golden Retriever, about two years old. His name is Max.

WOMAN: Lovely breed! When was the last time Max had a professional grooming session?

MAN: Actually, this would be his first time. We usually bathe him at home, but his coat is getting quite thick and tangled.

WOMAN: I see. For Golden Retrievers, we recommend our full-service package. It includes a bath, blow-dry, brush-out, nail trimming, and ear cleaning. The session usually takes about two hours.

MAN: That sounds perfect. How much does that cost?

WOMAN: For a Golden Retriever, it's $85. We also offer a first-time customer discount of 15%.

MAN: Great! When's your earliest available appointment?

What must the customer bring to the appointment?

  3. Question 5, read aloud
Question 5: listen, then show the question text

Why will the appointment take longer than usual?

Transcript (read it after you answer)

WOMAN: Let me check our schedule. We have an opening this Thursday at 10 AM, or next Monday at 2 PM.

MAN: Thursday would be perfect. Oh, wait - I should mention that Max gets a bit nervous around other dogs.

WOMAN: Don't worry, we have separate areas for anxious pets. We'll make sure he's comfortable. Do you have any specific concerns about his grooming?

MAN: Well, he's not great with loud noises, especially the blow dryer.

WOMAN: We can use our quiet dryer for sensitive pets. It takes a bit longer, but it's much gentler.

MAN: That would be wonderful. Should I bring anything special?

WOMAN: Just his vaccination records and a collar. If he has a favorite treat, you can bring that too.

MAN: Perfect. And what time should I pick him up?

WOMAN: Given that we'll use the quiet dryer, plan for about three hours. So, around 1 PM.

Transcript (read it after you answer)

MAN: Hi, I just realized I need to reschedule Max's appointment for Thursday.

WOMAN: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Is everything okay?

MAN: Yes, but I completely forgot about a vet appointment I scheduled for him that morning.

WOMAN: No problem at all. Let me check what else we have available. Would you prefer morning or afternoon?

MAN: Afternoon would be better. And actually, could you add a teeth cleaning service as well?

WOMAN: Of course! That's an additional $25. I can offer you Friday at 2 PM or Saturday at 3 PM.

MAN: Friday at 2 PM works perfectly. And with the teeth cleaning, how long should I expect it to take?

WOMAN: It'll be about three and a half hours total. So you can pick him up around 5:30 PM.

MAN: Great, thank you for being so accommodating!

WOMAN: No problem at all. We'll see you and Max on Friday!
