Dear Mr. Thompson,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing regarding the possibility of donating several musical instruments to the Riverside Youth Orchestra. As a former music teacher who recently retired, I have accumulated quite a collection of instruments over my 30-year career, and I believe they could benefit young musicians in our community.
My collection includes three violins in excellent condition, a viola that was recently restrung, two clarinets that have been professionally cleaned and maintained, and a trumpet that's perfect for a beginner. All these instruments have been stored properly in their original cases and were regularly serviced during their use in my private teaching practice. While some show minor signs of wear, they are all in good working condition and would be suitable for student use.
I understand from your website that the orchestra runs an instrument lending program for students who cannot afford to purchase their own instruments. This resonates deeply with me, as I've always believed that financial constraints shouldn't prevent young people from pursuing their musical interests. During my teaching years, I witnessed how access to proper instruments could transform a student's musical journey.
Additionally, I have some music stands, sheet music collections, and basic maintenance supplies that I'd be happy to include with the donation. The sheet music includes both classical pieces and contemporary arrangements that might be useful for your orchestra's repertoire. Some of these arrangements were quite expensive when purchased, and I'd love to see them being used rather than sitting in my storage.
Before proceeding with the donation, I would appreciate knowing if the orchestra has any specific requirements or procedures for accepting instrument donations. Also, I would be happy to have the instruments inspected by your music director to ensure they meet your standards. If any instruments need minor repairs or adjustments, I would be willing to have them serviced before donation.
I'm available any weekday afternoon to bring the instruments to your facility for inspection. Alternatively, if you prefer, I could provide detailed photographs of each instrument for your initial review.
Looking forward to your response and hopefully contributing to the musical education of our community's youth.
Best regards,Sarah Mitchell
