The question

Employee satisfaction and productivity are strongly linked to a healthy work-life balance. Companies are exploring new benefits to support their staff.

Which new benefit should companies introduce to improve work-life balance?

- Option A: Offer flexible work hours or remote work options for employees.

- Option B: Provide on-site wellness facilities, such as gyms and relaxation spaces.

Please choose one option and explain your preference.

Write about 150-200 words.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

I am convinced that implementing flexible work hours or remote work arrangements (Option A) is the most effective strategy for fostering work-life balance. Flexibility empowers employees to tailor their schedules around family commitments and personal priorities, which boosts morale and reduces burnout. While on-site wellness amenities (Option B) enhance the workplace environment, they do not address the fundamental need for time and autonomy. Ultimately, flexible policies benefit a broader range of staff and contribute to long-term satisfaction and productivity.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

Flexible work hours or the option to work remotely help employees fit their jobs into their lives. For parents or people with long commutes, it can make a huge difference. Although on-site gyms are a great perk, not everyone will use them, and they don’t save time. Flexibility gives all employees a chance to balance work and personal needs.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think companies should let workers choose their hours or work from home. This makes it easier for people to take care of family or personal things. Gyms and places to relax are nice, but time is more important. When people control their schedule, they feel happier. So, I pick option A.
