The question

Promoting gender equality in the workplace is vital for fairness and productivity. Many organizations are exploring new policies to ensure everyone has equal opportunities and feels respected.

Which initiative should companies focus on?

- Option A: Implement clear rules to ensure equal pay for equal work.

-Option B: Create special interest groups and social events to support and connect employees of all genders.

Please choose one option and explain your preference.

Write about 150-200 words.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

I firmly believe that implementing transparent policies to guarantee equal pay for equal work (Option A) should be the top priority for companies. Such rules directly address the root of workplace inequality by eliminating unjust wage gaps and promoting objective standards for compensation. While special interest groups and social events (Option B) can foster networking and mutual support, these initiatives do not fundamentally resolve systemic inequities. By enshrining equal pay in company policy, organizations demonstrate true commitment to gender equality and build trust among employees. In the long run, this approach not only improves morale but also enhances overall productivity and organizational reputation.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

I would choose clear rules for equal pay for equal work. This policy ensures fairness and stops discrimination. If people know they will be paid fairly, they will trust the company more. Social events and interest groups can build friendships and support, but they may not solve the main problem of pay differences. With equal pay, employees feel valued for their skills, and this can improve morale and performance. That’s why I believe option A is the better choice.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think companies should make sure everyone gets the same pay for the same job. This is fair for all workers. Sometimes, people are paid less just because of their gender. Clear rules will stop this problem. Social groups are nice, but they don’t change pay or work. Equal pay helps people feel respected and happy at work. I believe option A is better for making workplaces fair for everyone.
