The question
Your local library has received funding for an expansion project, and the community is being asked for input on how to use the additional space.
Which option do you prefer? Why?
-Option A: Add more study rooms and quiet reading areas.
-Option B: Create a large multimedia section with computers, tablets, and interactive learning tools.
Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12
I advocate for Option A, as enhancing study rooms and quiet reading areas best serves the library’s fundamental role as a haven for focused learning. With the rise of remote education, students and professionals increasingly seek tranquil spaces to concentrate—a need libraries are uniquely positioned to fulfill. Expanding these areas would provide a vital resource, especially for those lacking a quiet home environment. I’ve seen friends thrive academically thanks to such spaces.
By contrast, multimedia tools, while appealing, are ubiquitous in modern life, available through personal devices or educational institutions. The library’s strength lies in offering what’s scarce: an undisturbed setting for deep thought and study.
Investing in study spaces over a tech-heavy section ensures the library remains a sanctuary for intellectual growth, catering to diverse community needs with lasting impact. It’s a choice I fully support for its practicality and alignment with our shared values.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8
In my opinion, Option A is the best choice because libraries should focus on quiet study areas. First, many community members depend on the library for a peaceful place to work or read. For instance, students often need a distraction-free space to prepare for exams, and more study rooms would meet this need.
Second, while technology is useful, most people already have access to computers at home or school. Quiet reading areas are harder to find, making them more valuable. Adding these spaces would support learning in a way multimedia tools might not.
A multimedia section could be nice, but it’s less important than helping people focus. For these reasons, I strongly believe expanding study rooms and reading areas would benefit our community the most.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5
I prefer Option A because a library should be a quiet place for studying and reading. Firstly, many people, like students, go to the library to do homework or read books. They need peace to focus. For example, my cousin studies better at the library because it’s quiet there.
Secondly, some people don’t have a calm space at home. More study rooms would give them a good spot to work without noise. This helps them do well in school.
A multimedia section sounds fun, but lots of people already have computers or tablets. A library is special for books and quiet time. Therefore, I think adding study rooms is better for our community.
