The question

With more people choosing to walk, cities are focusing on making streets safer for pedestrians. Determining the best solution for reducing accidents is vital.

What should your city do first to make walking safer? What do you think?

- Option A: Lower speed limits in residential and high-traffic areas.

- Option B: Increase public education on road safety for drivers and pedestrians.

Please choose one option and explain your preference.

Write about 150-200 words.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

Enforcing lower speed limits in residential and busy areas (Option A) is the most direct and enforceable way to protect pedestrians. Speed reduction not only decreases accident rates but also minimizes injuries. While educational efforts are important, changes to road policy ensure safety for everyone, regardless of awareness.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

Lowering speed limits protects pedestrians by reducing both accident risk and severity. Education campaigns are helpful, but not everyone remembers safety rules. Slower driving is something everyone must follow, making option A more effective.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think lower speed limits are the best way to make streets safer for walkers. If cars drive slower, accidents will not be as bad. Education is good, but slow cars help right away. That’s why I choose option A.
