MAN: Hi Leah, the restaurant can take our birthday group Friday at seven-thirty. My sister's train is due at six-fifty, but that route has run late all week.
WOMAN: Hey Simon. Eight-thirty gives her more room, but my babysitter leaves at ten. We would spend dinner watching the clock.
MAN: A café near the station takes no bookings. It handles delay, although it is noisy and has almost nothing your mother can eat.
WOMAN: Then keep the restaurant. Does its deposit become final for every named guest Thursday, or can one uncertain seat remain open?
MAN: The manager will hold a sixth chair until five-thirty Friday if we confirm five fixed-menu guests Thursday. The extra meal stays uncharged until then.
WOMAN: Scheduled arrival has been wrong all week. We need something reliable before the chair deadline, not after it.
MAN: Her train leaves at four-forty. The app records actual departure, and station travel takes about thirty minutes once she arrives.
WOMAN: If we release the chair, she could still join dessert. One rail delay should not erase the whole evening.
MAN: I'll ask whether a packed main course counts as that sixth fixed-menu order. If it does, she chooses it before the kitchen closes.
WOMAN: Good. Releasing a chair and ordering takeout may sound like one decision, but the restaurant could charge them differently.
MAN: I'll watch the departure record before five-thirty. The app usually posts that record within minutes, before the chair cutoff. A train still sitting at five-ten cannot reach the restaurant comfortably for seven-thirty.
WOMAN: The five-person booking stays unchanged. My mother keeps suitable food, the sitter's limit stays comfortable, and your sister can still meet us later.
MAN: Then release the chair if needed. I'll tell her that the restaurant count is not the whole invitation.
WOMAN: I'll confirm five Thursday. You check the train Friday, and I will settle the takeout rule today.
