CELPIP Speaking Task 2 Sample Answer: A DIY Home Repair Experience

A memorable DIY home repair experience for me was when I decided to fix a leaking pipe under my kitchen sink. I noticed the leak one morning, and instead of calling a plumber, I wanted to challenge myself to fix it. I watched several tutorials, turned off the water supply, and used a wrench to tighten the pipe and replace a worn-out washer. It was messy, and I got soaked at one point, but after a couple of hours, the leak was completely gone. I felt an immense sense of accomplishment, not just for fixing the problem, but for proving to myself that I could tackle something I initially thought was beyond my abilities. It gave me the confidence to take on more home projects in the future.

I had a DIY home repair experience when I fixed a hole in my bedroom wall. I accidentally made the hole while moving furniture, and I didn’t want to hire someone to fix it. I bought some materials like plaster and a small tool, and I followed a tutorial online. It took a few hours, but the wall looked good as new. I felt really proud because I saved money and learned a new skill.

I fix my chair one day. It was broken and not sit good. I use glue and hammer. It take time, but chair work now. I feel happy because I do it myself.
