The question

Plastic pollution is a growing problem that affects wildlife and human health. Communities are searching for innovative solutions to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.

How should your community reduce plastic waste?

-Option A: Ban single-use plastic bags in all stores.

-Option B: Launch creative art and recycling competitions for students and residents.

Please choose one option and explain your preference.

Write about 150-200 words.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

Implementing a ban on single-use plastic bags in all stores (Option A) would deliver the most immediate and measurable reduction in plastic waste. Although art and recycling competitions (Option B) promote creativity and raise environmental awareness, their impact tends to be limited to participants. Policy-driven approaches, like a ban, compel broad behavioral change, ensuring sustainable outcomes. Ultimately, option A directly tackles the core issue and fosters a more eco-conscious community.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

Banning single-use plastic bags is the most practical choice. When stores don’t offer these bags, people must bring their own, so plastic waste automatically drops. Contests can raise awareness, but changing habits is harder without real rules. By making plastic bags unavailable, everyone must adjust, which makes a bigger difference in a short time. That’s why I support option A.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think banning single-use plastic bags in stores is better. People use many plastic bags every day, and they usually throw them away. If stores stop giving out these bags, less plastic will go into the trash. Art and recycling contests are good, but they may not stop people from using bags. I believe option A is the best way to help the environment.
