The question

Your town is allocating funds for a public event and seeking resident input. Some suggest a cultural festival with music and food from different countries. Others propose a science fair to inspire interest in technology. Only one event can be funded.

Which option do you prefer? Why?

-Option A: Cultural festival with music and food.

-Option B: Science fair to inspire technology interest.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

I strongly advocate for Option A, as a cultural festival promotes social cohesion and inclusivity across the community. Featuring diverse music—like jazz or folk tunes—and global cuisine such as curry or empanadas, it draws a wide audience, fostering cultural exchange and collective pride. While a science fair inspires technological curiosity, its narrower scope may exclude those uninterested in STEM, limiting its communal impact. In contrast, the festival’s universal appeal encourages maximum participation, enhancing harmony and leaving a lasting impression on our town’s identity.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

I prefer Option A because a cultural festival brings the community together in a joyful way. With live music and foods like sushi or homemade pies, it celebrates our town’s diversity and appeals to people of all ages. For example, kids could dance while parents chat over a meal. A science fair is useful for education, but it mostly attracts tech fans and might not excite everyone. The festival has broader appeal and helps build stronger connections among residents.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I choose Option A because a cultural festival is fun for everyone in town. People can listen to music and try foods from different places, like spicy tacos or sweet desserts, which makes them happy. It’s a great way for families and friends to spend time together. A science fair is nice for learning, but not all kids or adults enjoy it. The festival is better because it brings the whole community closer and feels exciting for all.
