The question

Your city is investing in renewable energy to reduce its carbon footprint. Some officials propose focusing on solar energy, installing solar panels on rooftops and public buildings. Others believe wind energy is the better option, suggesting the construction of wind turbines in strategic locations. Since both require large investments, the city must decide which one to prioritize.

Which option do you prefer? Why?

-Option A: Invest in solar energy projects.

-Option B: Develop wind energy infrastructure.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

I strongly advocate for Option A, as solar energy presents a more adaptable and cost-effective solution for urban renewable energy adoption. Solar panels utilize existing structures, such as rooftops, minimizing land use and environmental disruption. Furthermore, advancements in solar battery storage ensure energy availability even on cloudy days, making it a highly reliable source of power. While wind energy has its advantages, it requires extensive land use and depends on variable wind conditions. Investing in solar energy aligns with both environmental sustainability and urban efficiency, making it the superior choice for our city.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

I support Option A because solar energy is a more practical and efficient solution for our city. First, solar panels can be installed on rooftops and public buildings, making use of empty spaces without disturbing nature. Second, solar power is more reliable in most areas. Wind energy depends on strong winds, which are not always available. While wind energy is beneficial, solar power is a more accessible and widely used option for clean energy.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I choose Option A because solar panels are easy to use. They can go on rooftops, and people can use them at home. Also, solar energy works every day when the sun shines. Wind energy depends on weather, and sometimes there is no wind. Solar power is better because it is more reliable and helps more people.
