The question

Ensuring a safe and secure environment in schools is essential for student well-being and learning. Schools must balance security with creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Which safety measure should schools adopt first?

- Option A: Install advanced surveillance cameras and secure entrances in all school buildings.

- Option B: Conduct regular safety workshops and emergency drills for students and staff.

Please choose one option and explain your preference.

Write about 150-200 words.

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

In my opinion, the priority should be installing advanced surveillance systems and secure entrances (Option A). Such measures deter unauthorized individuals and provide real-time monitoring to prevent or quickly address incidents. While safety workshops and emergency drills (Option B) are invaluable for preparedness, proactive security infrastructure establishes a solid foundation for protection. The presence of robust security technology not only reassures parents and staff but also discourages potential threats before they arise.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

I prefer installing surveillance cameras and secure entrances. These tools help protect everyone by preventing strangers from entering the school unnoticed. Although workshops and emergency drills are useful for teaching students how to act in an emergency, physical security systems stop many dangers from happening in the first place. Combining both would be best, but if I had to choose, option A is more effective right away.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think installing cameras and secure doors is most important. If there are cameras, it is easier to stop bad things from happening. Secure entrances keep strangers out. Workshops and drills help, but cameras and locks stop problems before they start. So, option A is my choice for better school safety.
