The question

Many young people in your city struggle to find mental health support. The city council wants your opinion on how to make services more accessible for youth.

How should your city improve youth mental health services? What do you think?

Excellent answer: around CLB 11–12

I strongly support the creation of walk-in mental health clinics dedicated to youth (Option A). In-person clinics offer immediate, confidential support and foster stronger connections between young people and mental health professionals. This setting allows for comprehensive assessments, ongoing care, and personalized treatment, which are often not possible with hotlines or chat services. While digital hotlines are valuable for initial outreach or crisis moments, walk-in clinics provide a more stable and effective solution for addressing mental health challenges among youth. By investing in accessible clinics, the city demonstrates a true commitment to supporting young people’s well-being.

Good answer: around CLB 7–8

Opening walk-in clinics for youth is the best choice for mental health support. These clinics provide a safe place where young people can get advice and help in person. Although hotlines and chat services are private and useful for some, face-to-face meetings with professionals build trust and can solve bigger problems. Walk-in clinics are more helpful for serious issues, and youth will know exactly where to go when they need help. For these reasons, I choose option A.

Basic answer: around CLB 4–5

I think the city should open walk-in mental health clinics just for young people. Sometimes it is hard for youth to talk about their feelings at home. If there is a clinic, they can get help from a counselor or doctor. Hotlines are good, but many young people want to talk to someone face-to-face. A clinic is a safe place to go if someone is sad or stressed. I choose option A because it will make it easier for youth to get real help when they need it.
